I would like to send out a huge thank you to all the exhibitors who participated in this year’s Home & Garden Show. While our Show was smaller this year due to the ongoing pandemic, we still had a great turn out. Special thanks to the HBAL staff, Michaela, Jennie, Laure and Andrea for their hard work and determination to make the Show happen. The people who attended the Show were quality leads and the turnout of visitors was fantastic!

Unfortunately, we are unable to have our annual Tribute to Youth this month, but the Foundation Board of Directors recently approved three scholarships for students who will be pursuing education in construction related fields. Make sure to check out May’s newsletter to read about this year’s winners.

On Monday, March 22 the City Council had their public hearing on the Climate Action Plan. Ann Post and Michaela worked with Miki Esposito to modify some of the language in the plan. There could be implications from the adoption of the plan, HBAL will continue to monitor the plan. If you have questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to myself or Michaela at the HBAL office.

In light of recent events, I want to stand up to hate. Events produced by the Home Builders Association of Lincoln should be a place where everyone can showcase their talents regardless of race, ethnicity, age, gender and other diverse backgrounds. Any sort of intimidation will not be tolerated. Take the time now to have the uncomfortable conversations with your employees about the power of words. Everything we say and do has the ability to spread positivity or negativity. Please be mindful of the examples we set. Together, we can build a better community.
