After being installed as HBAL’s 71st president on Zoom last week, my hope is this was the last time we’ll have to do HBAL’s installation by video. I am glad my father was able to perform my installation and my family was able to join me. Thank you to Herb for leading HBAL through the uncertain times we faced this past year. He liked to joke he was the President who never had to do anything and canceled everything. He and I were able to set a couple new records this past year. Shortest board meeting and shortest installation of officers. Here’s to hoping 2021 brings more meetings in person and the opportunities to network with other members.

If you enjoy good chili, then be sure to come to the HBAL Drive-Thru Chili Feed. The HBAL staff and a couple volunteers will be serving chili 11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. on February 4 at the HBAL office. If you know you’d like to grab a bowl of chili, please RSVP. Limited quantities will be available, and your only cost is a free-will donation with all proceeds benefiting the Lincoln Home Builders Care Foundation.

On January 28, HBAL will have their annual Legislative bill review. If you are interested in learning more, please contact Michaela at HBAL. We are aware of several bills this session that could impact the cost of housing and the ease of development.
We have a small group of members who are looking at the Mayor’s Draft Climate Action Plan and will be sending feedback to the City once the list is available for public comment. If you have concerns about the Plan, or if you would like to participate with comments, please let me or Michaela know.

Watch your mail for contracts for the 2021 Spring Parade of Homes. I know there are several builders who are already planning to participate. This is a great opportunity to showcase your talent and hard work.

I look forward to the coming year and thank you for allowing me to lead HBAL in 2021.
