We are looking forward to a successful Home & Garden Show, March 12-14. It will be nice to finally have an in-person HBAL event! Our last in-person event was the Chili Cook-off in March 2020! Thank you to the HBAL staff for your work ensuring we can safely have the Home Show. I know many of our members rely on the 49-year tradition and collect many leads at the Show.

Denny Van Horn, Herb Reese, Ann Post, Ruth Hietbrink, Michaela Schwarten, Taylor Wyatt and I have met with Miki Esposito several times to discuss Lincoln’s Climate Action Plan. The Planning Commission advanced the Plan at their meeting on February 17 where Ann Post testified on behalf of HBAL. Ann encouraged more conversations with our group as the plan moves forward and is adopted by the City. We will continue to monitor the progress of the plan as it moves to City Council.

On February 8, Pat Cahalane from Legacy Homes and I testified to the legislature’s Urban Affairs Committee in opposition of LB 467 which seeks to update the State of Nebraska to the 2020 National Electrical Code. Thank you to Pat for taking time to join me at the Capitol. We will keep everyone informed as we receive updates on the bill.

We have 30 homes signed up for the Spring Parade of Homes. I’m looking forward to warmer weather and less snow!
