If you would have asked me last January how I thought my presidency would go, this is definitely not what I had imagined. I am now in the last two months of my pandemic presidency and I feel so honored to represent and lead HBAL. I am proud of our community and the way we have come together to support each other during these crazy times. We have all had to learn how to adapt and everyone has done an excellent job being flexible.

I would like to give a shoutout to everyone who was involved and helped with the Fall Parade of Homes. It was a tremendous success. On November 16, we will be holding the HBAL election and membership drive results virtually. Watch your email for a link to join us! I encourage you to attend HBAL 101 on November 17 and to invite other members and nonmembers of HBAL to join you. Anyone who would like more information on HBAL and what we do is welcome to attend. Lastly, our Santa Cop project will look a bit different this year. Instead of our traditional build day at Northeast High School, we are inviting you to drop off toys at the HBAL office. These toys will be given to the Lincoln Police Department and distributed to those in need by our police officers.

This year has proven to be challenging, everchanging and downright bizarre. However, with Thanksgiving quickly approaching, it is a reminder to stop and be thankful for everything we have been given. This year especially, I am thankful for my family and their health and happiness. Spend time with your families this Thanksgiving and be thankful for the time spent with them. On behalf of the entire HBAL staff we wish you a safe and filling Thanksgiving!
