When I’m writing my message each month, I usually try to write about something that’s been on my mind. It could be the weather or the season or it could be our employees’ safety or some other work-related topic. This month I seem to be spending a lot of time thinking about and trying to hire additional employees. Finding people who can pass a background check or someone who your insurance company will allow to drive company vehicles can be a challenge. Finding people with the work ethic you would expect can be even more of a challenge. Our industry has been struggling with this over recent years and it is not just a problem here in Lincoln but across the country. I encourage everyone to look for opportunities to promote the building industry and find ways to get young people interested. Show them that home remodeling and building can be a fulfilling and rewarding career choice.

We had about perfect weather for our June picnic at the park. We enjoyed Raising Canes and broke into groups to try to lower hula-hoops to the ground using only our fingertips (sounds easy, but it’s nearly impossible). Thank you to all who attended.

The month of August means we won’t have a regular meeting. Instead we’ll be out on the golf course! The Remodelers Council Golf Tournament is Friday, August 23 at Holmes Golf Course. Spots are limited for this tournament, so if you want to play, be sure to contact Jennie at the HBAL office ASAP!
