I hope everyone’s new year is off to a good start!

On Monday, January 10 there was an ordinance change proposed to City Council. If the ordinance change is approved, builders will be able to work directly with a contractor for curb cuts. You will still need to have the curb cut inspected, but you will no longer need to contact the City to have the work done. This should simplify the process significantly. Thank you to Beau Daffer and Denny Van Horn for helping work with the Transportation and Utilities Department on the change.

Serving as President of HBAL has been a fulfilling achievement. The role is not one to take lightly and requires commitment and the ability to be present when needed. I appreciate the confidence the members of the nominating committee felt for me when I was asked to serve. The HBAL staff, Michaela, Jennie, Laure and Taylor have all assisted in making the past year successful. Without their help, I know this year would not have been smooth.

If you haven’t gotten involved in HBAL, I encourage you to find a way to get involved. There are so many things HBAL does for our community and the building industry. Involvement will help you build lifelong relationships and increase your network and knowledge.

My year as president is coming to an end. I look forward to attending Fred’s installation ceremony on February 1. Thank you for allowing me to serve this great association.
