The Young Building Professionals:

  • is a very active group of 75 members
  • offers networking opportunities with their Midday Meetups
  • supports the Food Bank of Lincoln’s BackPack program through their Hard Hat Happy Hours
  • holds an annual Light the way 5K race and 1-mile fun run
  • has an ongoing partnership with Lighthouse of Lincoln
  • participates in community projects

Lighthouse of Lincoln

In 2017, the YBP Council formed a partnership with The Lighthouse which has been fulfilling to provide a positive influence in the kids lives. In addition to the Light the Way 5K, activities with Lighthouse have included an ice cream social, workdays to power wash and stain the pergolas, celebrity judging of their annual salsa tasting competition and a game night.

The Lighthouse After School Program offers middle and high school aged youth academic support, evening meals and enrichment/recreational activities during non-school hours, Monday through Friday. The Lighthouse After School Program’s goal is to increase the likelihood of high school graduation by providing high-quality programming.

Light the Way 5K

In 2017, the Young Building Professionals held their inaugural Light the Way 5K. Proceeds from this annual event directly benefit Lighthouse of Lincoln.

Midday Meetups & Hard Hat Happy Hours

Midday Meetups are held over the lunch hour at the HBAL office and provide professional development opportunities. Hard Hat Happy Hours are hosted by a YBP member and offer networking and relationship development opportunities.

BackPack Program

In 2016, the YBP Council began collecting free-will donations at their events to be given to the Food Bank of Lincoln’s BackPack Program. To date, the group has given over $1500 to this great cause.
