Tell us about your family.
My wife, Shawna, and I have been married for 10 years and have three young kids. They keep us busy with sports, school and plenty of adventures. Family is at the center of everything we do, and we’re currently in the process of building a new home and moving to Ashland.
What would be the theme song of your life right now?
“Standing Outside the Fire” by Garth Brooks. It’s a reminder that growth comes from taking chances, embracing challenges and stepping outside your comfort zone—something that’s especially true in both life and real estate.
What are you currently reading or listening to?
The Mental Game: Winning the War Within Your Mind
Name a recent movie you watched that blew you away.
The Breadwinner. It was funny, heartfelt and a great reminder that family and the little moments in life matter most. It struck a balance between humor and perspective that really stuck with me.
What are you currently binge-watching?
LA Fire
Best restaurant you’ve ever been to?
Big Red
If you had to eat one meal every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Sushi
Favorite place you’ve traveled?
Brazil
What did you want to be when you grew up?
Farmer
Where are you from? Where did you go to school?
I’m from Harrisburg, a small town in western Nebraska, where I graduated in a class of just 16 students. I attended my local community college before earning my degree from Chadron State College. I’ve called Lincoln home for nearly 10 years.
What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know?
Most people know I’m a REALTOR®, but my background is actually in agriculture and business strategy. Before real estate, I spent more than a decade helping farmers and agricultural dealerships solve complex business problems, and I still bring that analytical mindset to helping people make one of the biggest financial decisions of their lives.
What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever done?
Leaving a career in agriculture to start over in real estate. It’s been equal parts exciting, humbling and challenging, and I’m still figuring it out. But sometimes the strangest decisions end up becoming the most rewarding.
What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life?
Probably public speaking. I don’t get to use it as much in my day-to-day work, but I enjoy taking complex ideas and making them simple, engaging and relatable for people.
If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
I’d choose the ability to slow down time. There never seems to be enough of it between family, work and everything else, and I’d love a few extra hours to enjoy the moments that matter most.
When you’re not working, how do you enjoy spending your time?
You’ll usually find me spending time with my wife and three kids, exploring Nebraska and cheering on Husker athletics. I also enjoy creating real estate content and finding new local restaurants to try.
Who is someone who’s made a big impact on your life? Why?
My parents. They taught me the value of hard work, humility and treating people the right way. Those lessons have shaped how I approach my family, my career and the relationships I build every day.
If you could trade places with anyone for a day, who would it be and why?
I’d trade places with a home builder for a day. I’d love to experience everything that goes into turning an idea on paper into a home where a family will build their life and memories.
If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be?
Elon Musk. I’d be fascinated to hear how he approaches first-principles thinking, tackles seemingly impossible problems and decides which ideas are worth betting on.
What do you love most about your job?
Helping people make one of the biggest decisions of their lives with confidence. It’s rewarding to simplify a complex process and help families find a home that truly fits the way they want to live.
What experiences and past roles have led you to where you are today?
My career has taken me through agriculture, technology, sales and business strategy. Each role taught me how to solve problems, build relationships and simplify complex decisions—skills I now use every day in real estate.
What career advice do you live by? Who gave it to you?
Always seek the good in people and find a way forward. One of my former managers also reminded me that there’s a reason the windshield is bigger than the rearview mirror—you learn from the past, but you keep your focus on what’s ahead.
If you could collaborate with anyone, who would it be? Why?
Pat McAfee. I admire the energy and authenticity he brings to sports and life. He has a unique ability to educate, entertain and make people feel like they’re part of the conversation.
What’s one skill you’d like to develop or sharpen this year?
Storytelling. I want to become even better at turning everyday moments into stories that educate, connect with people and help them see homes—and life—a little differently.
What are your future goals and aspirations for your career?
I want to become a leading new-construction REALTOR®—not because of recognition, but because people trust how I think. My goal is to help buyers make better decisions by educating them and showing them how a home will actually live, not just how it looks.
