Hopefully you are aware of HBAL’s charitable non-profit, the Lincoln Home Builders Care Foundation. Its mission is to support the educational and charitable activities of the Home Builders Association of Lincoln. Now that it’s fifteen years old, we want to celebrate it!
Have you ever wondered why a Foundation is even necessary? Couldn’t HBAL just do charitable works?
Since its inception in 1951, HBAL has always supported the Lincoln community in numerous charitable ways. We’ve supported students and school programs, scholarships, local non-profits, disaster relief, etc. But our scale was small and the benefit to our members was limited. In 2009, work began to form a 501(c)3 charitable foundation dedicated to the future of the homebuilding industry in Lancaster County.
Creating the Lincoln Home Builders Care Foundation achieved the following:
- Separated funds from HBAL for cleaner accounting and tax reporting
- All donations to the Foundation are tax-deductible
- Allows for estate planning bequests from our members
- Allows for memorial funds in honor of deceased members
- Ability to fulfill larger requests for funds making more of an impact
- Ability to donate substantial funds when disaster strikes our community
- Ability to build an endowment for the future
What is the Foundation’s mission? Has it made a difference in the last 15 years? Read our upcoming HBAL Updates and you’ll find out!
